This project involved the thoughtful expansion of a small cottage, designed to meet the client's desire for minimal additional space while maximizing the home’s sense of openness, natural light, and connection to the outdoors. Our approach emphasized energy efficiency, non-toxic materials, and creating a healthy, sustainable living environment.

Key features include an abundance of daylight, careful integration with the property’s outdoor spaces for gathering, and edible gardens that enhance the connection between indoor and outdoor living. Despite the modest footprint, the home feels spacious and bright, thanks to a design that prioritizes quality over quantity.

This project was highlighted on the Build It Green Homes Tour in Marin and Sonoma Counties, where it won the Best Home Renovation Award. Additionally, tour participants selected it for the People’s Choice Award. The home was also featured in the Marin Independent Journal article, “Eco-friendly and Stylish Too,” celebrating its commitment to sustainability and modern design.
